Plants add the needed finishing touches to any decor. But, if you have a feline, that beautiful plant could become a deadly enemy.
Listed here are plants poisonous to cats that must be avoided if there are cats in your home. While in some cases, just parts of a plant (bark, leaves, seeds, berries, roots, tubers, sprouts, green shells) might be poisonous, this list rules out the whole plant. If you must have any of them, please keep them safely out of reach.
Should your feline friend eat part of a poisonous plant, rush the cat to your veterinarian as soon as possible. If you can, take the plant with you for ease of identification.

Also keep in mind, you pay good money to your vet for his or her services. Don't try to medicate your cat without your veterinarian's advice. Never give your cat acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Nuprin, Advil) -- they are all toxic to cats. And understand that salicylic acid (Aspirin) should only be given under a vet's direction.
Be careful what treats you give: chocolate is toxic to cats and dogs. That doesn't mean they don't like it -- just that you mustn't give it to them.
Reducing the exposure to harmful plants and disease will increase the chances of a long life. The average indoor/outdoor cat lives to be three. The average indoor cat lives to be 15. Please make the right choices for your fur family members.
A note on the history of this page:
I was given a list of plants toxic to cats more than 20 years ago, when I used to breed Burmese.
I am not a botanist; I am not a veterinarian. Therefore, I can not answer your question(s) about specific plants.
The reason I have re-posted this information (for several years, the cat links page provided a link to this information elsewhere) was because, the Internet being fluid, that page is no longer available.
I did a search and was unable to find any list as comprehensive as this one. However, I found this one link that has photos of 11 of the plants to avoid.
